Legislation

We are in support of all bills listed below.

AB 8 would implement the “Yellow Alert” system, which utilizes the state’s network of changeable message signs to notify the public when a hit-and-run resulting in a death or serious bodily injury has occurred and provide information about the vehicle or suspect involved, helping law enforcement officers apprehend a hit-and-run offender.

AB 744 would remove the barrier of excess parking requirements in areas with safe and convenient alternatives to driving such as walking, bicycling, and transit facilities. If implemented, this bill would reduce the individual costs of both housing and transportation, improve public health, and contribute to the livability of communities throughout California.

AB 902 will extend the eligibility for diversion programs from minors to all persons who commit an infraction not involving a motor vehicle. This bill will allow ticketed cyclists to attend a diversion program — a “bicycle traffic school” class — and have the fine reduced, turning a purely monetary penalty into a valuable educational opportunity.
