San Diego Bike Coalition to Celebrate Longest Day of the Year

Beer and bike lovers unite for Summer Solstice ride, brewery tour on Friday

SAN DIEGO, June 16, 2014 – This Friday the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition gears up to host its second-annual Summer Solstice event, combining a bicycle ride and tour of Green Flash Brewing Company to celebrate the first day of summer and the longest day of the year.

“Summer is the best time of year to ride bicycles in San Diego,” says Executive Director Andy Hanshaw. “This year Green Flash compliments our summer solstice tradition with a brewery tour. Bikes and beers– two things San Diego is well-known for.”

The second-annual Summer Solstice ride meets at Green Flash Brewing Company (6550 Mira Mesa Blvd) at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20 for a half-hour leisurely bicycle ride before heading back to the tasting room for beers before the sun sets at 8:32 p.m.

Tickets for the Summer Solstice ride are $10 for Bike Coalition members and $15 for non-members. Proceeds of the event support the bicycle movement in San Diego County by enabling the Coalition to work on bicycling issues countywide.
