Frequently Asked Questions

What does the ride cost?

  • This is a free event but registration is required and space is limited. We’re asking for a suggested donation of $15 to cover event fees. You can also contribute $25, $45, $75 or $100 to get event swag and sponsor riders.

How do I get to the event?

  • We’d recommend biking, car pooling or taking public transit! If you get to the event on your bike or using public transit you get 5 free raffle tickets. If you choose to use public transit the closest stops are Miramar College Transit Station or the Mira Mesa Market Place.

Where can I park?

  • There is event parking at Park Village Elementary School, across from Penasquitos Creek Park and there are also parking spots on Camino del Sur north of the park. There will be some parking on Camino del Sur right next to the park, but we’d like to save those spaces for people with young children.

What is the raffle?

What is a gear swap?

  • A gear swap is a chance for people to get rid of gear they don’t want and exchange it with something else. Everyone is invited to bring their bike stuff, clothing and other outdoor gear and display it nicely on a picnic blanket. Encourage people to come check out your gear and bargain with you, or swap them for items that you’d like!

How long are the rides and what’s the elevation gain?

  • The mountain bike rides are 11 or 6 miles. There are two road bike rides, a 25 miler and a 10 miler.  Both the road routes start with a large hill climb, but you can choose to take a shuttle up the first hill. To see the route options please scroll back up to the top of the page and click on one the four listed ride options. At noon there is a family ride which is 3 flat miles of dirt trail riding.

Do I need to be fast or in stellar shape to attend?

  • Absolutely not! Theses are all fun and casual “no drop” rides. Volunteers and ride leaders will be there to support you. Please choose the distance ride that suits your abilities. There will be a shuttle option for people to use to get to the top of the first hill on the road rides.

What do I need to bring?

  • You must bring your own bike, helmet, water bottle, and sun protection. Dress comfortably for the ride of your choice. There will be food trucks, and a gear raffle, so bring cash or a credit card if you’d like to purchase anything. We’d encourage everyone to have a face masks, just in case.

Do I have to be there all day?

  • Nope! You can join just for the morning bike rides, or show up in the afternoon to take part in a skills clinic, visit the Woman-owned business expo or swap some bike gear.
