The recent flooding in our region underscores the critical need for climate resilience, equitable infrastructure, and effective disaster relief efforts, especially in communities of concern. The unprecedented storms revealed the deficiencies in our drainage systems, which inequitably impacted historically underserved communities, prompting increased attention from governmental agencies and politicians. In the past week alone, I had the opportunity to address two Environmental Roundtables, where I shared the Coalition’s key priorities for addressing climate change. By promoting the safety, accessibility, and enjoyment of biking as a viable form of transportation, we can make significant strides towards achieving our Climate Action goals by lowering greenhouse gas emissions and reducing vehicle miles traveled through a shift in transportation modes. Every trip you take by bike helps stem climate change and demonstrates to our neighbors that biking is a viable option. Thank you for being the change we need in the world, and see this link for community sourced resources for flood victims. Pedaling for change, Chloé Lauer Executive Director |
