The Board of Directors is made up of passionate advocates, urban planners, transportation experts, and community leaders dedicated to making San Diego a safer and more accessible place for riding bikes. Representing a diverse range of backgrounds, our board members bring expertise in advocacy, education, policy, and grassroots organizing to guide our mission.

    Nancy Bahena

    Nancy is a lifelong transit rider, public health advocate, and community researcher committed to building safe, people-first communities across San Diego County. She brings a perspective grounded in lived experience, along with professional roles as an instructor, researcher, and certified Promotora (Community Health Worker).

    Emily Dayton

    Emily is a daily bike commuter and enthusiastic advocate for practical, people-centered transportation. She brings a “regular rider” perspective to the Board, representing the many San Diegans who bike for convenience, health, and joy rather than sport. Professionally, Emily leads admissions at the UCSD Rady School of Management, where she received her MBA.

    Rosalind Haselbeck

    Rosalind is a climate advocate and founder of the nonprofit Dwelling On Carbon, which focuses on carbon sequestration and water conservation. With a background in biology and a black belt in aikido, Rosalind is also an avid cyclist who frequently participates in rides to promote environmental awareness.

    Tatiana Lundström

    Tatiana is an active transportation professional with experience in bike-friendly design and multimodal infrastructure projects. She brings technical knowledge from working on active transportation initiatives, paired with a strong passion for bike safety and best practices in street design.

    Jesse Ramirez

    Jesse is the Director of Planning at City Heights CDC. He has led multimillion-dollar urban planning projects and worked extensively on community engagement, equity, and policy advocacy to create safer, more inclusive transportation networks.

    Steve Myrick

    Steve has cycled across Europe, Australia, and Japan, observing various cycling infrastructures. He believes safe bike infrastructure encourages more cycling and supports the Coalition's mission to improve quality of life through biking.

    Kyle Ryan

    Kyle is a real estate housing developer and frequent city cyclist who brings a valuable perspective at the intersection of urban development, housing policy, and transportation. His professional experience navigating land use policy, community plan updates, and entitlement processes allows him to advocate for bike-friendly design from within the development sector.

    Stephan Vance

    Stephan has been a Bike Coalition board member since 1996 and served on the CalBike Board for 19 years. He retired from a 36-year career at SANDAG, where he focused on active transportation, including leading major bike projects like the Bayshore Bikeway. In retirement, he enjoys bike touring.

    Christopher Velasco

    Christopher is a planner and policy advocate with deep experience in sustainable development, transportation planning, and government processes. He is a co-author of the SDSU/City of San Diego 30th Street Cycle Track analysis and previously worked at SANDAG on the Sustainable Communities team. Christopher brings strong skills in plan review, policy research, and CEQA.

Board Meetings

Meetings are on the 4th Wednesday on odd months at 6:30 pm

The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition's Board of Directors provides leadership and strategic direction, guiding advocacy, education, and community engagement efforts to make biking safer and more accessible.

Board meetings are open to the public, offering an opportunity to stay informed and contribute to the Coalition’s mission. The Board is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable cycling community.

Advocacy Committee

Meets every 2nd Wednesday on odd months at 6:30pm (Zoom)

The Advocacy Committee engages in outreach and education on government policies at all levels—local to federal. It oversees decisions on bike-related facilities, community plans, and policy responses, ensuring the Coalition’s voice is heard on public issues that affect cycling infrastructure and advocacy efforts.

Education Committee

Meets every 4th Thursday on odd months at 6:30pm (Zoom)

The Education Committee guides the Coalition’s education programs for schools, businesses, and community groups, aiming to improve bicycle safety and awareness. It develops and oversees safety initiatives, while also supporting volunteer coordination through a dedicated subcommittee to expand community outreach and engagement.

Outreach, Equity, and Membership Committee

Meets on the 3rd Wednesday of even month at 6pm

The Outreach, Equity, and Membership Committee focuses on building an inclusive cycling community through outreach, promoting equity, and increasing Coalition membership. It develops strategies to engage diverse communities, ensure representation, and grow membership while fostering meaningful connections to support the Coalition’s mission and advocacy efforts.

Council of Clubs

Meets on the 3rd Wednesday of odd months at 6pm (Zoom)

The Council of Clubs is a coalition of cycling clubs that unifies their collective voice to represent the broader cycling community. With an ex officio seat on the board, they meet regularly to discuss priorities, share insights, and advocate for policies that support cyclists across the region.
