Bike Maintenance 101 + Ride: Keep Your Ride Rolling Smoothly

Want to feel more confident on your bike? Join us for Bike Maintenance 101, a hands-on workshop designed to give you the essential skills to keep your bike safe, reliable, and fun to ride. Then, put your new knowledge into practice with a short group ride and quick “Rules of the Road” education session.

Whether you’re a daily commuter, weekend adventurer, or just getting back on two wheels, this class will empower you to take charge of your bike’s care and your safety on the streets.

What You’ll Learn

1. The ABC Quick Check

Start every ride with confidence. Learn the Air, Brakes, Chain method to make sure your bike is safe before you roll out the door.

2. Fixing a Flat

Flat tire? No problem! We’ll guide you through removing the wheel, patching or replacing a tube, and getting back on the road quickly.

3. Brake Basics

Learn how to spot wear, make simple adjustments, and keep your stopping power strong.

4. Caring for Your Chain

A clean, lubricated chain means smoother rides and fewer costly repairs.

5. Shifting Made Simple

Keep your gears running smoothly and learn what to do if they’re not.

6. Rules of the Road

Brush up on traffic laws, lane positioning, and safe riding habits to stay confident while biking in the city.

7. Community Ride

End the class with a short group ride to Jeremy Henwood Park and back, where you’ll apply your skills on real streets with the support of instructors and fellow riders.

Interactive & Hands-On

This isn’t a lecture, it’s a participation-based workshop. You’ll practice on your own bike (or one we provide) with guidance from certified instructors. Expect to get your hands dirty, ask questions, and test your skills on the ride.

Who Should Join

  • Beginners who want to feel more confident about bike care

  • Commuters looking to save money on basic repairs

  • Families teaching kids the value of self-reliance

Why It Matters

Knowing how to handle basic maintenance keeps you safe, extends the life of your bike, and gives you freedom on the road. Adding road safety training and a group ride makes this class even more impactful—you’ll leave with both mechanical skills and street confidence to enjoy every ride.
